Mittal Institute India Fellowship (MIIF) 2026

Mittal Institute India Fellowship (MIIF) is designed to support two postdoctoral scholars annually, enabling them to conduct independent research that advances critical scholarship benefiting India. Fellows will be based in New Delhi and will receive remote mentorship from Harvard faculty.

Duration: 1 year, commencing in January 2026

Eligibility Criteria:

• Academic Qualification: PhD completed between March 1, 2020, and March 31, 2025
• Preference: Candidates primarily educated at institutions in India and those without prior access to Harvard resources
• Disciplinary Scope: Open to all disciplines, including but not limited to science, medicine, philosophy, law, religion, language, literature, history, cultural studies, visual arts, economics, linguistics, anthropology, public health, climate, education, gender studies, political science, sociology, and human geography

Stipend: Monthly Stipend: INR 1,00,000 (gross) Coverage: Living costs, medical allowances, books, and research materials Travel Support: Economy round-trip travel expenses for fellows relocating to New Delhi from other locations

Required Documents: Research Plan (2–3 pages, double-spaced) including: Project title and abstract , Research questions, Methodology, Proposed outcomes, Updated Curriculum Vitae, Writing Sample (maximum 10 pages, double-spaced), Scan of PhD Diploma, Two Letters of Recommendation (at least one academic reference).
