Aaranyak’s Media Fellowship 2025

Aaranyak invites applications for its Media Fellowship program titled ‘Nature, People and Way of Life’. This 3-month fellowship is designed for young media professionals from Assam to explore the human-nature relationship, natural resource management, indigenous traditions, sustainable livelihoods, and ecocultural tourism in forest fringe communities. Selected fellows will conduct field visits and develop powerful grassroots stories that promote conservation, coexistence, and local knowledge systems. Fellows will be mentored by senior media professionals and guided by local facilitators during fieldwork.

Duration: 3 months (including a mandatory 10-day field visit)

Eligibility Criteria:

• Media professionals (print/digital/broadcast/magazines) or freelancers
• Age: 25–35 years (5-year relaxation for Indigenous communities's & Sixth Schedule areas) Must be a resident of Assam
• Keen interest in environmental journalism
• Must have at least two published creative stories
• Two referee statements from senior professionals required
• Women, Indigenous, and Sixth Schedule area candidates are strongly encouraged
• Working media persons must apply through proper channels

Stipend: INR 40,000 (one-time fellowship amount)
