The VAIBHAV (VAIshwik BHArtiya Vaigyanik) Fellowship 2025 is an initiative by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, aiming to connect Indian-origin scientists residing abroad with Indian academic and research institutions. The fellowship facilitates collaborative research projects, allowing fellows to contribute to India's scientific ecosystem. Selected candidates will receive up to ₹4,00,000 per month, along with additional benefits, to support their research endeavors in India.
Who Can Apply:
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) holding a Ph.D., M.D., M.S., or M.Tech degree from a recognized university. Applicants must be actively engaged in research and have at least 5 years of experience in a regular/tenured position at a foreign institution or industry. Experience gained during Ph.D. or post-doctoral periods is not considered.

How to Apply:
Identify and obtain consent from an eligible Indian host institution. Register on the DST's e-PMS portal: https://onlinedst.gov.in. Complete the & New PI Registration process. Fill in the application form and upload required documents, including: Biodata (maximum 7 pages) List of recent publications (last 3 years) Certificates of highest qualification Experience certificates Copy of passport and OCI/PIO card or work visa Submit the application before the deadline.
Selection Process:
Applications will be reviewed by a committee comprising representatives and independent external reviewers from India and government departments. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an online presentation of their proposed work. Final selection is based on the quality and impact of the proposed research.
